Standards of Behavior for UC Merced YES Volunteers

These Standards of Behavior are intended to promote positive and worthwhile experiences for all students and staff involved with UC Merced YES. Importantly, they are aimed at promoting the safety and wellbeing of all YES volunteers and participants. This document is an agreement accepted by UC Merced YES volunteers to represent the University ethically and professionally. All volunteers are expected to function within these standards:

Conduct Standards

1. Accept supervision and support from professional staff while involved in the activity/program
2. Professionally and appropriately represent the activity/program and the University of California, Merced.
3. Behave in a courteous and respectful manner, exhibit good sportsmanship and be a positive role model for minors.
4. Respect, adhere to and enforce the rules, policies and guidelines established by the activity or program and the university.
5. Endeavor to provide a safe and healthy experience for all participants.
6. Maintain a dress code according to UC Merced YES Academy guidelines.

Dress Code

Dress in a neat, comfortable manner that is appropriate for an academic learning environment.

No ripped, torn or revealing clothing nor clothing with offensive images or graphics should be worn.

A UC Merced, UC Merced YES Academy, or professional organization t-shirt is strongly encouraged when participating in UC Merced YES Academy outreach events. Based on availability, UC Merced YES t-shirts will be provided for volunteers who commit to at least two UC Merced YES outreach visits.

UC Merced Photo/Video/Audio Recording Release 

I understand that the photograph(s) or video or audio recording(s) taken of me by agents, employees or representatives of The Regents of the University of California (hereinafter “University”) shall be used in connection with the University's dissemination of information on its public service and academic programs to the general public.

I hereby irrevocably authorize the University to copy, exhibit, publish or distribute any and all such images and audio of me or wherein I appear, including composite or artistic forms and media, for purposes of publicizing University programs or for any other lawful purpose. In addition, I waive any right to inspect or approve the finished product, including written copy, wherein my likeness appears.

I hereby hold harmless and release and forever discharge the University from all claims, demands and causes of action which I, my heirs, representatives, executors, administrators or any other persons acting on my behalf or on behalf of my estate have or may have by reason of this authorization.
